This Week's Message

The US and nuclear programs in the Middle East

In the first decades

Of its existence,

Israel built

A large scale Nuclear program,

Long before

Any of its neighbors.

President John Kennedy

Opposed the

Israeli nuclear program,

Confronted Prime Minister

David Ben-Gurion,

And demanded that

The nuclear reactor

In Dimona

Be open to

International inspection.

Ultimately, however,

The US came to

Accept Israel's

Nuclear program.

It has been decades

Since it voiced

Any opposition

To that program.

Now Israel is horrified

At the possibility

That the US will treat

Iran's nuclear program

In the same manner

That it has treated

Israel's own program.
