Dear Consul Hillel Newman,

I am writing as a concerned American Jew to protest the threats and intimidation of Gush Shalom by various parts of the Israeli government, including the Prime Minister, the Defense Minister, and the Attorney General. .Gush Shalom and its members are guilty only of upholding their civic responsibility as Israeli citizens to monitor and publicize violations of international law by Israeli citizens and institutions, as well as the possible consequences of such acts. .Israel is a signatory to the Geneva Conventions among other conventions of international law, and thus, its citizens have every right and obligation to track and announce violations of these conventions. .As a Jew who holds Israel to the highest standards of morality and justice, I ask you to use your position to demand that the Attorney General investigate violations of international law and not those who are attempting to monitor them.
