Trial of poet Dareen Tatour resumes


The trial of poet Dareen Tatour will resume in Nazareth Magistrate's Court on Sunday, March 19, at 11:30 am, before Judge Adi Bambiliya. In this hearing the defense witnesses are due to testify, including translator Dr. Yoni Mendel and Professor Calderon, an expert on literature. There are three court hearings set for the coming weeks:

Sunday, March 19, at 11:30 Tuesday, March 28, at 14:00 Wednesday, April 5, at 14:00 Poet Tatour was arrested on October 11, 2015, for a poem and Facebook statuses. She spent three months in different Israel prisons and is still under house detention since then.

Israeli Human Rights activists and opponents of occupation and oppression will maintain a presence in the court, as an expression of solidarity with Dareen against persecution and the attempts to silence her, as well as in defense of everybody's freedom of expression.
