Mr. President Francois Hollande - We, Israeli citizens who are actively engaged in the pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, welcome the French Government’s action in convening an international conference in mid-January 2017 We fully support your aim of generating international encouragement for a successful and accelerated Middle East Peace Process that will end the Israeli occupation of Palestine, now entering its 50th year, through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state while granting Israel security within internationally recognized borders We declare that a peace accord must be founded on the two-state solution, based on the June 4 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital city of both states We consider all Israeli settlements on Palestinian territory to be a violation of international law and regard them as a major impediment to peace. We therefore urge the conference to call for an international policy of differentiation between the State of Israel and the occupied territories in any agreements with Israel We urge the conference to call for the acceptance of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations, thus creating a more balanced basis for Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations As Israeli citizens, we are confident that UN Security Council Resolution 2334, the remarks made by US Secretary of State John Kerry, and the anticipated resolutions of the Paris Peace Conference will help serve Israel’s existential interests, security, and future prosperity. |
