Army caves in to settler threats

Gush Shalom: The army is surrendering without conditions to the settler violence. A week ago the settlers threatened, on the pages of their paper "B’sheva", to beat up any soldier who stands in their way to the ruins of Homesh settlement “until his own mother would not recognize him”. Instead of locating those who made this bald threat and prosecuting them, the caved in. The same army whose soldiers set hounds on Palestinian women has chose to move out of the settlers’ way, allow them to reach the ruins of Homesh settlement which they intend to rebuild, and even provide “security” to their convoy. Of what worth are PM Olmert’s so-called “diplomatic talks” when it turns out that violent settlers are the true setters and executors of policy.
