Aviv Gefen, don't go there!

Gush Shalom to Aviv Gefen. “When performing before settlers, are you going to sing the words of the song you wrote yourself: ‘Let’s march into the dream/Where there are no nations and races/Let’s conquer Peace/and not territory'?”

Gush Shalom (the Israeli Peace Bloc) calls upon singer Aviv Gefen to cancel a planned performance at the so-called “Ahava Festival on the Dead Sea” scheduled for later this week. “This event in planned by the settlers organized in the ‘Megilot Regional Council', and is aimed at increasing the population in these settlements. The main sponsor of this event is the Ahava Cosmetics Company, which makes profits from exploiting the mineral resources at the occupied Palestinian part of the Dead Sea.

Participating at such an event is not fitting for an artist who claims to support the cause of peace, and who is prominent at the annual memorial rallies to Yitzchak Rabin" wrote the Gush Shalom members to Gefen.

“When performing before settlers and their supporters in an occupied territory robbed from its owners, are you going to sing the words of the song you wrote yourself: ‘Let’s march into the dream/Where there are no nations and races/Let’s conquer Peace/and not territory'?”
